Press release
regarding the national accord conference held in Cairo
The Iraqi nationalists and religious groups and
parties have attended a conference in Cairo, Egypt for 3 days in
response to a call made by the Arab League in order to contain the
outcome of the political and security chaos.
This meeting was held as a result of pressure made by
the US administration on the Arab League, as a consequence to a
miserable failure to bring about security and stability to Iraq.
IFC supports every effort to restore stability and
security which can bring decent and prosperous life. However this
meeting was held to temporarily cease-fire among these groups and
conceals the actual causes of terrorism, chaos, insecurity,
unemployment, and the lack of social services.
Therefore IFC views the Cairo meeting as:
-
Formalization and legitimization of the ethnic and sectarian
division that considered a key factor of deepening the conflict
and put the country on a brink of civil war that could erupt at
any moment.
-
Iraq has
been converted into a terrorist war zone and the occupation
troops are an active part of it. However the meeting did not
condemn the acts of the occupying troops and turned a blind eye
to the troops to their crimes and legitimized the occupation.
All these came to comply with the US policy that conquered the
world under pretext of war on terror. In addition the occupation
has provided the terrorist organization with the ground and
climate to launch their operation as an excuse for resisting the
occupation.
-
The
ethnic and sectarian groups are another factor of the terrorism
who committed genocides against innocent people. The militias of
these groups are continuing to perform systematic ethnic and
sectarian cleansing where abduction, torture, mutilation are
underway. Therefore these groups must be condemned.
-
The Arab
League has turned its back to the main sources of unrest and
chaos of the current situation.
As we mentioned, the current dilemma is caused by the
occupation, therefore ending the occupation, establishing non-ethnic
and religious state is the only way to bring about security and
stability. |
